Alan Joseph Solch

Alan Joseph Solch, 62, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Dec. 6, 2013.

Alan was born in Melrose Park, Ill., Nov. 24, 1951, the son of Joseph and Doris (Collin) Solch. He was raised and attended school in Glen Ellen, Ill., graduating from Glenbart High School. He then attended the College of Dupage County where he earned an Associate Degree in Art and then attended Southern Illinois University.

Alan was an accomplished artist, dealing with all types of mediums, but painted mostly with oils and watercolors.

He made his home in Red Lodge where he worked as a ranch hand and dabbled with his painting, living there for over 25 years. In 1999 he moved to Sedro-Woolley. For the past several years Alan has been involved with the First Baptist Church in Sedro-Woolley where he developed a strong relationship with the congregation and Pastor Coursen and enjoyed attending prayer and worship groups.

Alan is survived by his sister, Gail Solch of Scottsdale, Ariz., and her faithful companion, her dog, Sedjwick, who Alan called Leon; 4 aunts, 7 cousins and many friends.

A Celebration of Life for Alan will be held in the spring of 2014. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
