Area Athletic Programs receive cash injection from Beartooth Billings Clinic

Beartooth Billings Clinic (Beartooth) donated a total of $2,730 in direct student sports physical fees back to area school athletic departments this season. “Our providers performed a total of 182 sports physicals for athletes representing volleyball, football and cross country teams from 10 schools in the region,” noted Kevin Larson, Director of Clinic Services at Beartooth. The sports physicals, required by the Montana High School Association for athletic eligibility, are offered to athletes in grades 5 – 12 during the month of August at a reduced cost. 100% of the fees collected from sports physicals at Beartooth are then donated back to the respective schools. The funds will be used by the school athletic departments to offset new uniform and equipment costs. According to Maggie Karas, Community Relations Coordinator at Beartooth, “The High School Association requires the physical exams as a way to protect the health and safety of the student activity participants. Beartooth offers the physicals at a very affordable rate, and then donates the physical exam fees back to the schools to further benefit the students and their families as well as promote health and wellness among the athletes.” Beartooth donated the following amounts to the schools: Red Lodge $1,545; Roberts $705; Joliet $360; Bridger $75; Belfry, Fromberg and Billings West each $15.
