‘Listen to the wind.’

Christine McKay’s ceramic art pieces sold in abundance at a fundraiser held by Beartooth Gallery Fine Art in Red Lodge, Saturday. The money raised, $3,200, will help fund, purchase, and distribute art supplies to all schools in Carbon County. McKay said she was “very happy to be a part of this.”

“I am stunned,” she said. “I never expected this, these items selling.” McKay, who took ceramic classes at the University of Montana in Missoula, had 23 pieces in the show.

McKay’s pieces reflect a number of cultures from Oriental to Hawaiian and horse cultures. She frequently uses horsehair as an embellishment. No two pieces she makes are alike.

She said of the gallery’s owners Robert Streitmatter and his business partners, Robin and her brother Steve Galloway, that they had created a “great environment” for artists and this type of event.

“We really appreciate the local support at the event,” said Streitmatter.
