Brajcich resigns

Dear Members of the Board of Trustees, RLPS Staff Members and Community, It is with very mixed emotions that I submit to you my letter of resignation effective June 30, 2014, as Superintendent of Red Lodge Schools. The reality of leaving what I believe to be the “Best Job in the State” makes me quite somber, however I have preached and continue to believe that for the benefit of children educators cannot “Retire before they Retire”. I have the utmost respect for the Board, and the staff. Fifteen years ago when I arrived, there was a considerable amount of work to do; a chal lenge I embraced. Through the dedication and hard work of many I believe we have made Red Lodge Public Schools a district not only respected locally, but statewide. To the board I say thank you! You have committed to tackle tough issues and always make decisions that “are best for kids” on a consistent basis. To staff and faculty members who on a day to day basis continue to work with a smile and passion t o make Red Lodg e Schools a better place to learn and work, I commend you. Without your willingness to pitch in the school’s landscape would be much different. To the principals and their families who spend countless hours making things run smoothly, I applaud your focus and decision-making skills! I will not be a stranger; my wife and best friend intend to continue to stay in Red Lodge. This decision has not been made to pursue other administrative opportunities; it was made to begin to enjoy what I believe to be the “Golden Years”, ages 50 to 70. Education is going through a considerably difficult and trying time. Some of my “Old School” practices may be obsolete and I think the new person in my office will flourish based on the quality of board, principals and staff they will be fortunate to work with. I have been one small component of a bigger organization, I feel blessed to have landed here. I thank the community of Red Lodge for welcoming our family, as well as your unfailing support throughout the years. The future is bright for Red Lodge Public Schools! Here’s to the future! Sincerely, Mark Brajcich Red Lodge
