Bridger successfully negotiated the first hurdle in the 6-Man Playoffs by defeating Valley Christian 66-0 last week. As the South’s No. 1 seed Bridger will host the Big Sandy Pioneers who in turn defeated Richey/Lambert COOP Fusion 55-32.
The Scouts led 48-0 at the half after Nick Althoff scored 3 first half touchdowns, one of them being a 50-yard returned interception.
Colter Zentner had two rushing touchdowns in the first half and threw a 60-yard pass for Jake Kallevig to get another.
Jake Mitzel caught a touchdown pass and threw for one touchdown to go with eight tackles and two sacks.
“We controlled the game and the line of scrimmage all night. We played fast and hard, got a big first quarter lead, to earn this first round playoff win,” said Coach Mike Mathis. “Our execution on offense was solid and we flowed to the ball on defense tackled well and forced five turnovers. Big Sandy comes to town this week for a Friday night quarterfinal matchup they are big and physical we’ll counter with our speed and quickness so it should be an exciting back and forth challenging game for us.”
