A Bridger woman was killed early Sunday morning when the vehicle she was driving was hit by another car. The incident happened at 4:20 a.m. one-mile south of Rockvale on Highway 310.
Jody Schurch, 56, was driving a Ford Focus along the northbound lane when a Toyota Tundra drifted from the southbound lane towards her explained Montana Highway Trooper Aaron Freivalds.
“There was a two feet overlap,” said Trooper Freivalds, meaning it was not a direct head on crash.
Carbon County Sheriff Josh McQuillan said the Toyota Tundra was “driven by a 30-year-old male.”
Schurch was pronounced dead at the scene.  Schurch was traveling with her son. Both he and the male in the other vehicle were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Attending to the scene were Montana Highway Patrol, Carbon County Sheriff’s Department, Bridger Fire and Joliet Fire and EMTs.
