Daniel L. Lynn
Daniel L. Lynn passed away April 16, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born June 29, 1917 in Cincinnati, Ohio t William and Flora (Miller) Lynn. He attended schools in Cincinnati, obtaining his bachelor’s in education and eventually his master’s in school administration.
Dan served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II. In 1944, he marred Marklyn Wuertemberg, to whom he was married for 69 years. Dan worked most of his life as an educator; as a teacher and then principal in Cincinnati schools.
After retirement, he and mark moved to Nye, and later to Red Lodge. Dan loved Montana and the mountains, camping and backpacking extensively throughout the west. He ad his wife also traveled throughout the world. Dan enjoyed tennis, bridge and classical music, even teaching classical music appreciation in Absarokee.
In the late 80s and 90s, Dan served on the Red Lodge City Council and was instrumental in initiating the recycling program in Red Lodge. Dan also served n the Carbon County Arts Guild board, the Carbon County Historical Museum board and was a member of thee CCRC and Beartooth Front.
His last years were spent in Laurel.
Survivors include his wife, Marklyn, his sons, Danny (Peggy) and Chris, six grandchildren: Eric, Jamie, Adam, Brittany, Kristen and Kalyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A classical music concert will be held June 29 at the Red Lodge Community Church to honor his life.
