Dever Jacob Herman

Dever Jacob Herman was born to Bruce and Shirley Herman on May 20, 1981 in Alliance, Neb. He left us on Jan. 28, 2014 due to heart failure. Over the course of Dever’s short life, he loved trips to the mountains, and he helped his dad with cattle by clipping bulls and assisting with artificial insemination. He loved to cook and was an important part of the family catering business. Dever had a kind and caring heart, and was a wonderful father.

He cherished his children. Dever is survived by his parents; his wife, Kelly; two sons, Bradley and Jaycob Herman; one daughter, Alexis Webster; two sisters, Shae (Joe) Santamaria and Shelley (Noe) Villafranca; grandmother Edythe Garner; 3 nieces, Austin (Javier) Martinez, Chelsey (Brody) Gies and Karmin Zimmerman; and 5 nephews, C.J., Jake, Ryan and Zachary Santamaria, and Max Zimmerman. Dever was preceded in death by his brother, Brad Herman; grandparents Les and Phil Herman and Nyal Garner; uncles Tom Herman, and Monte and Jim Garner; and aunts Linda Steffan and Barb Bignell.

Rest in peace, Dever, and give your brother a hug for us. We will love you forever. Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at the Joliet Community Center. Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge was in charge of cremation. A fund has been set up at the Bank of Joliet under the name Dever Herman for his children.
