Donald George Hobbs

Sadly, Donald George Hobbs, 74, of Joliet passed away July 3, 2014. He was born May 13, 1940, in Billings, to Harold and Louise (Marxer) Hobbs. He grew up in Joliet, but spent a lot of time in Cook City. On June 11, 1966, he married Margaret (Peggy) Leach. They were married for about 20 years and divorced, however they were able to remain best of buddies. He loved to hunt, fish and camp.

He told the best stories and would “shoot the breeze” with just about anyone. In his younger years he worked as a hunting and fishing guide with his dad. He was a head cook for several hunting camps. He drove truck for a while and worked at the sugar factory in Billings. He moved to Texas for a short time where he learned to be a carpenter and was able to have his own construction company. He also worked at Boise Homes and was a maintenance man at Eastern College. He is survived by his daughter, Charleen (John) Young of Lewiston, Idaho, and his son Jeffrey (Michelle) Hobbs of Billings, and his partner in crime, Margaret (Peggy) Hobbs of Joliet,. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 at the Joliet Christian Church in Joliet. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of cremation.
