Doris Day Kracaw

Doris Day Kracaw, 76, of Red Lodge, passed away in her home Sunday morning, April 13, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 25, 1937 in Jackson Hole, Wyo., to Howard and Alma (Shorty) Clark.

Doris and her first husband, Rodrick Gulbrandson lived in parts of Wyoming with their 5 children until they moved to Red Lodge in 1967 where she worked at Natalie's Cafe.

On May 25, 1972 Doris and Ted Day were married until his death in 2002. They purchased the Red Lodge Cafe in 1976 and Doris ran it until she sold it in 2008.

Doris met and married Michael Kracaw in 2005. In 2008 they purchased a motor home and loved traveling around the United States visiting friends and family. When they were at home in Red Lodge they enjoyed hosting dinner parties with friends until Mike's death in 2011.

Doris was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all. Doris so enjoyed her family and friends and always had words of encouragement and wisdom for all.

Doris was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Alma (Shorty) and Jerry Cantlin; son, Michael Gulbrandson; husbands , Ted Day and Michael Kracaw and stepdaughter, Robin Day.

Doris is survived by her three sons and one daught e r, David (Dani e l l e ) Gulbrandson, Marilyn (Kelly) Fugere, both of Billings, Mark Day (Allison Stoltz) of Red Lodge, Jim (Lisa) Day of Kaysville, Utah, daughter-in-law, Susan Gulbrandson of Pinedale, Wyo., two stepsons, Kurtis (Kristin) Kracaw of Two Rivers, Wis., Peter (Josie) Kracaw, Manitowoc, Wis., 2 stepdaughters, Jennifer Kracaw and Sarah Mueller both of Two Rivers, Wis., along with 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Randall Gibb and his staff at Billings Clinic as well as Dr. William George and Red Lodge Hospice.

Celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday April 22, 2014 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Red Lodge. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlfuneralchapel. com
