Elizabeth (Betty) Matilda Frank

Elizabeth (Betty) Matilda Frank died peacefully at Edgewood Vista Memory Care on Oct. 24, 2013, surrounded by her family. Betty was born on the farm in Bridger, on July 18, 1934, to Monica (Sticka) and Paul Kroll. Betty was the third child of thirteen brothers and sisters. While growing up on the farm, Betty worked alongside her parents raising all of her younger siblings. Betty attended Bridger High School graduating in 1952. On Jan. 2, 1954, Betty married John I. Frank in Laurel. Together they raised four sons, whom she was so very proud of.

Betty kept busy raising their four sons, working as a cashier at Lockwood Superette, Calhoun Market, Kon's Sooper and running the Lockwood Little League concessions while her boys were growing up. Later Betty worked at Saint Vincent Hospital in Environmental Services. Betty and John's home was always open and welcome to family members for extended stays. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Monica Kroll; siblings, Baby Kroll, Ann Pierce, Leona Cellmar and Elaine Reisinger; brother-in laws, Don Frank, Lawrence Starnes, Junior Pierce, Albert Bauwens, Jarel Cellmar and Gary Strever; sister-in laws, Josie Strever and Wanda Kroll.

Betty is survived by her loving husband John of 59 years; four sons, John (Cathy) Frank of Colstrip, Ron (Debbie) Frank of Worden, Daniel (April) Frank of Billings, Lesley (Louella) Frank of Billings; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; nine siblings, Leonard (Pat) Kroll of Billings, Paul (Rita) Kroll of Laurel, George (Mary) Kroll of Billings, Bill (Lillian) Kroll of Bridger, John (Iris) Kroll of Pelican Rapids, Minn., Katherine (Izzy) Kadrmas of Livingston, Robert (Diana) Kroll of Billings, Donald Kroll of Bridger, and Dave (Carol) Kroll of Mandan, N.D.; brother-in-laws, Roy Frank of Kansas, Norman Frank of Oklahoma; Pete Riesinger of Laurel; sister-in-laws, Marion Starnes of Billings, Evelyn Bauwens of Fromberg, and Connie Fredrickson of Laurel; also numerous nieces and nephews. Betty dearly loved all of her family.

In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials include The Alzheimer's Association of Montana, Edgewood Vista Memory Care in Billings or Rocky Mountain Hospice. The family would like to send a special thank you to the many caregivers of Edgewood Vista Memory Care Facility and Rocky Mountain Hospice. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel. The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bridger, with Rite of Committal to follow at the Laurel Cemetery.
