Festival landmark to end after 65 years

After 65 years the iconic Red Lodge Festival of Nations has called it a day.  In a short press release the board of directors "sadly" announced an end of an era. The board cited "dwindling number of volunteers"  and  not "enough manpower to produce the event."

Instead, they have decided to honor the Festival of Nations’ name by becoming a governing board of scholarships and sponsorship of the fine arts. The Bob Moran Memorial Scholarship will continue being awarded to a high school student residing in Carbon County.

The first Festival kicked off in 1951.

More on the story in next week's Carbon County News.
