High Rollers

The Home of Champions Rodeo fundraiser ‘Cowboys and Carnations’ attracted a large crowd last Saturday evening at the Rock Creek Resort. Two large auctions saw some high scores paid out as well as a busy card table. At the event Don Coutts was named as this year’s Grand Marshal for the 4th of July parade while Jim DeSaveur, Roberts, was honored with a U.S. flag, flown Nov. 6, 2013 over the United States Capitol, for his hard work and support of the US cattleman’s industry.

Also on scene was 7-time World Champion Saddle Bronc rider Dan Mortensen who drew the winning ticket for a pair of custom made spurs by Montana Silversmiths. The spurs, emblazoned with the Home of Champions Rodeo name, were won by (pictured) Terrill Ostrum of Fishtail, who said he was “thrilled to death” to win and will be using them.

Rick Young was the auctioneer.

All funds will go towards the Home of Champions Rodeo event held in Red Lodge July 2-4.
