Man charged with burglary and assault with a weapon

An armed man who walked into an apartment in Red Lodge plead not guilty to burglary and assault with a weapon charges before Judge Blair Jones at Carbon County District Court, June 11. Bail was set at $5,000.

According to court documents Michael Apanaskh, Red Lodge, went to Mountain View Apartments on May 28, at 11:36 p.m. The court papers state Apanaskh was driven to the apartments by a friend who said Apanaskh was visiting a girl. When an officer approached the scene after receiving a 911 call he saw the defendant had a gun said court papers. Apanaskh complied with all the officers requests at being detained and told the officer he was there to see Wyatt Webb regarding several guns stolen from the defendant’s mother’s residence said court papers.

The defendant had been informed Webb was responsible said court documents. Court papers state that when the officer entered the apartment they observed drug paraphernalia, ammunition and a loaded magazine. The officer also believed Webb was on drugs.

Mikala Sherbrooke, who shares the apartment with Webb, and who called in the 911, told the officer that she and Webb were asleep in bed when she woke to find the bedroom light on and the defendant standing there said court documents. Webb, she said, left the room with the defendant and that is when she dialed 911 said court papers.

A trial date has not been set.
