New bicycle parking in Red Lodge

A new bicycle rack has been installed in downtown Red Lodge on Wells Fargo Bank property at 11th Street. The custom designed bicycle rack is a joint project of the Beartooth Recreational Trails Association (BRTA) and Wells Fargo Bank. The rack was built by Back Alley Metals, located in Red Lodge, and will securely park six bicycles. Secure parking is important given the current cost of many bicycles. The BRTA is promoting bicycle racks as one of the strategies to ease traffic congestion, improve the pedestrian environment and encourage non-motorized travel for a healthy central business district. This strategy is included in the 2013 Red Lodge Growth Policy adopted by the City Council. Businesses that would like to consider installation of a single inverted-U bicycle rack or a larger multi-bicycle rack, custom built with your logo or theme, can contact Bill Foisy (426-0550) or Corey Thompson (425-3980) with BRTA . Adequate clearances to maintain pedestrian movements and to provide a secure design in a visible and accessible location is critical in the siting of bicycle parking.
