Newcomers 11.18.17

Nine families in December were welcomed to Red Lodge by Linda Fisher of Red Lodge Newcomer Service. Two chose not to be included in this article. Each one received a welcome packet, compliments of some of the local business community. Please welcome these new families:
Daniel Beach moved here from Butte, Montana where he recently received his master’s degree in petroleum engineering. He is currently a ski instructor at Red Lodge Mountain. He has a new little shiba inu puppy, a breed from Japan. Besides downhill skiing, Daniel loves to snowboard, hike, fish, and hunt. He is also involved in a rugby team in Billings and is doing the Red Lodge volunteer fire fighting program.
Ruth and Bill Craven recently moved here from Lynnwood, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. Ruth is from Guam. They purchased some property just outside Red Lodge and are currently living in a yurt while they build their dream home, which is an Earthship. They stayed in an Earthship for a week in New Mexico and loved the idea of a solar house that is sustainable. Ruth has been cleaning homes in the past and Bill has been a handy man. They love to serve and help in their church and Ruth also sings. They like to hike, back pack, read, watch movies, and horseback ride. Bill also likes to lift weights.
Tawny and Casey Erickson moved here from Elko, Nevada. They both are engineers, graduating from Montana Tech and are glad to be back in Montana. They had been working for Barrick Gold Corporation and now are working for Stillwater Mining. They have a wirehaired Griffon dog called Gus. Both like to camp, backpack, float, hike, play golf, ATV, and snowmobile. They are hoping to get back into downhill and cross country skiing again this winter.
Susan Konzen recently moved here from Atlanta, Georgia. She was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She has family close by and fell in love with our mountains. Susan has one son and two daughters: Joey is a sophomore at Red Lodge High School and he loves to play basketball, baseball and football; Nicole does not like the cold Montana weather and is planning on moving to Texas; and Melissa is a caregiver. Both Susan and Melissa work at Heartland Assistive Living. They love to hike, garden, be outdoors and want to learn to cross country ski this winter.
Jennifer Davis and Dan Schaefer moved here from Bismarck, North Dakota. They have been coming to Red Lodge for nearly 30 years and now that they are getting closer to retirement purchased a home here. They love the beautiful small community and people here in Red Lodge. Dan has ran an ambulance service, is an EMS and also a National Ski Patrol. Jennifer does research. They have an English cocker and a King Charles Cavalier spaniel. Their three daughters and three sons live in Bismarck, plus three grandchildren. Jennifer and Dan like to hike, bike, play golf, motorcycles and downhill ski. They want to learn to cross country ski this winter and next summer learn how to fly fish.
Kris and Terry Heit purchased a second home here from Billings. They have been coming here for ten years and wanted a close get away. Kris works at Sanctuary Spa and Salon and Terry at Albertsons. Their daughter is a senior. They all enjoy fishing and travel.
Greg Perri moved to Montana from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is attending Montana State University in Billings majoring in outdoor adventure and leadership. He has recently been hired as a ski instructor at Red Lodge Mountain. Greg likes to fly fish, rock climb and ski.

Please note: anyone new to Red Lodge who would like to receive a Welcome Packet or if you would like to become a business sponsor may do so by contacting Linda Fisher, Red Lodge Newcomer Service at 425-2626.
