Season kick-off for Red Lodge soccer

Red Lodge U19 soccer c lub played the f i rst matches of the season in Billings on Saturday. Red Lodge lost the first game to Bozeman Blitzz 10 - 1 in a non-district game. Red Lodge, playing short due to players gone for spring break, was rusty playing on grass for the first time of the season. Red Lodge won the second game 4 - 3 beating Highline United U19 in a remarkable victory. Playing the second game of the day with just one substitute, Red Lodge took on a fresh Highline United team. Red Lodge went up 3 to 1 at half with several outstanding goals. Eric Dye scored with a diving kick from a corner kick. Logan Beck and Will Haman each added a score in the first half with excellent outside shooting. However, injuries and blisters took their toll on the players in the second half. Red Lodge scored one more goal in the closing 15 minutes with a scrappy goal by Tyler Ewald. Vi c t o ry was secured with a gutsy goal save by Will Haman in the last two minutes along wi th team high takeaways and defensive stops by Connor Beck and Liam Gildehaus. The Red Lodge Soccer Club plays Big Timber/ Columbus and Livingston next weekend in Laurel.
