Sharon Joan Garcia

Sharon Joan Garcia 75 went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday Aug 4, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born Dec. 8, 1937 in Canton, Ill., to Harold and Dora Glover. She was one of six children. She grew up in Illinois and Missouri where the family farmed and her father worked in the coal mines. She graduated from Margret Hall School for girls in Kentucky and received her Bachelor and Master Degree at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill,

In 1961, she married Joseph C. Garcia and they lived in Lewistown. She taught in the Lewistown public school system and at St. Leo’s Catholic School. She loved teaching and encouraged people to never stop learning. She retired from the State of Montana Center for the aged. Sharon loved being a mother, grandmother and friend. We will miss her kind, compassionate and generous spirit. She always saw the good in the world.

Sharon will join family and friends who have preceded her in death including her parents, In-laws Tony and Alma Garcia, husband Joe, daughter Lynn, brothers Norman and Jack Glover. Survivors include her two daughters Sharon Jo Songstad (Michael) of Joliet; Ruth Anne Garcia ( Jeremy Bacon) of New York City; Sisters-in-law Maria Mathews (Tom) of Great Falls; Nettie Glover (widow of Norman) of San Jose, Ill., g r a n d c h i l d r e n , J o h n Michael, Alexander and Anthony Songstad of Joliet; Nephews Michael Mathews of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jason Mathews of Missoula; brothers James Glover, Walter Glover (Rose) of Missouri, Sister June Glover of Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday Aug. 22, 2013 at Our Saviors Episcopal Church in Joliet
