Summer Safety Days

Last Friday Mountain View Elementary students, K-5, took part in the Summer Safety Days, teaching them about street safety, bike maintenance, bike riding skills an drills, and meeting with law enforcement, and emergency fire, Search and Rescue and ambulance personnel about looking out for strangers, remembering their phone numbers and who to call if they need to. "This event is important because kids need to be aware of basic bike safety. Most important this year is how to approach road construction areas," said Key Club advisor, Renee Gildehaus."When you're riding on the streets, you don't want to screw around. Cars do not always see you even if you see them," said Colby Theade before taking his group to ride around the block.Amongst the many volunteers were Linda Daily, Renee Gildehaus, Cobey Theade, Paul Otsu, Travis Burdock, Mountain View PTO, and The Red Lodge High School Key Club. There were also 36 raffle prizes generously donated/discounted from the Spoke Shop in Billings.    "It's always great to have opportunities to interact with the community and especially children," stated Asano Otsu, Volunteer Coordinator for Red Lodge Fire and Rescue.
