Trailer dumps excavator onto Highway 421

 An excavator on a trailer  became uncoupled from a dump truck May 7  on Highway 421 near Joliet. The dump truck was pulling the trailer. Fortunately no one was hurt in this incident. The Joliet Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Joliet Police Department, Carbon County Sheriff Department, Montana Highway Patrol, Carbon County DES, and Billings Towing Service responded to the excavator incident. Joliet Rural Volunteer Firefighters contained the diesel fuel spill and hydraulic oil spill from the excavator. Highway 421 was closed for a time when wreckers from the Billings Towing Service removed the trailer and the excavator. Joliet Volunteer Firefighters also conducted traffic control in cold and rainy weather conditions keeping one lane open during most of the incident on Highway 421.
