William C. “Bill” Pim


WOOSTER – William C. “Bill” Pim, 83, passed on April 25, 2013, at home after an 8 month battle with cancer.
Bill was born July 6, 1929, in Bellaire, Ohio, to Lorena and Bernard Pim. He was their only child.
He graduated from Shadyside High School in 1947, received a B.S. in Education from West Liberty State College, WV and a Masters in Education from Kent State.
On June 29, 1952, he married Joanne Neff at Shadyside Presbyterian Church. They were blessed with 60 plus years together. As their children say, “She fell in love with him when she was 17, and never got over it.” She survives.
Bill taught at Clark School, Holmes County, for 7 years and at Northwestern High School for 23 years. At Northwestern, he taught Biology, Science, Driver’s Ed., and Taxidermy. He coached basketball and baseball. He drove school buses and taught school bus driving classes at the Career Center. He was a volunteer bus driver for sporting events.
Bill was the advisor for the Northwestern Junior Rifle Club for many years. He played independent basketball and was a slow pitch softball pitcher. He acted and sang in the Northwestern Ruritan musicals for 15 years.
Bill was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, New Pittsburg, a charter member of New Pittsburg Sportsman’s Club and Rifle Club, a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the LoCo Club, (Local Couples of the Community).
Bill was able to live his lifetime dreams after retirement as he and Joanne went to South Africa on a hunting safari in Sept. 1993. They also lived and hunted in Red Lodge, Montana for part of every year.
He is survived by his three children: Pamela Pim of Wooster, William J. (Lisa) Pim of Millersburg, Lynn Farner of West Salem and grandchildren: Dustin Pim, Shawn Farner, Tiffany Farner and Kim Farner.
Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor to many younger hunters. He will be missed by all. “Happy Trails to You”.
His family wishes to thank the nurses from Home Health Services and from Hospice for their loving concern.
Calling hours will be at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 4-7:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place per his wishes.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the New Pittsburg St. Peter Lutheran Lutheran Church, 9451 Ashland Rd., Wooster with Pastor Mel Kirk officiating. Please feel free to share “Bill” stories with us.
