Willard J. (Bill) Lehman

Pearl Harbor survivor, Willard James (Bill) Lehman passed away on Oct. 10, 2017, in Red Lodge, Montana, at 95 years old.

Bill was born in Long Beach, California, on April 20, 1922. He went into the National Guard in 1940 and was in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked on Dec. 7, 1941.

Bill came home in 1945 and started Pomona College, where he met and fell in love with Joyce Parker of 7/7 Ranch in Fishtail, Montana. They married on June 30, 1947. He then began a career with the LAPD, where he was one of their first helicopter pilots. Bill retired to Fall River Mills, California, where he played golf nearly every day, flew his plane, and owned a gas station. In 2005 they moved to Red Lodge, Montana, to be near family.

He is survived by his two children; son Andrew Lehman (wife Wendi), and daughter Marcia Lehman Kessler (husband Greg); five grandchildren (four spouses), seven great-grandchildren, two nephews, six nieces, one sister-in-law and his best friend, Jim.
