Both the boys and girls Joliet teams had another tough week notching up two wins and two defeats.
The first round of games on Jan. 25 saw the boys defeat Columbus 54-45 with the Joliet losing to Columbus 37-27.
The following night the teams flipped their good fortune with the girls defeating Shepherd 49-38 and the boys this time falling to the Mustangs 68-56.
The boys game started off strongly with both teams charging the other’s baseline to get the points and it worked with the Mustangs just in front 24-19. The pace slacked off in the 2nd quarter 12-5 to Shepherd but picked up after the halftime with a concerted effort by Joliet to wrestle the game from the Mustangs. A 14-13 win in the 3rd gave them hope but it was not to be despite a stirring final quarter finishing 19-18 to Shepherd.
Rylan Olson scored a mighty 20 points with Taylor Rowlison on 16 and Brett Robinson on 12. Terik Fike got 6.
