Dian Lois Wallila, age 68 of Lewistown, formerly of Roberts, died Tuesday, July 23 at the Central Montana Nursing Home in Lewistown. Dian was born on July 15, 1945 in Billings, to Ermgardt Bertha (Franke) Wallila and Wayno Wilfred Wallila.
She was raised on the family farm at Roberts and completed her early years of schooling there. She then transferred to the Opportunity School in Missoula for four years. Dian was a resident at the Montana Development Center in Boulder. She also spent several years in group homes in Butte and Miles City before transferring to the Central Montana State Nursing Home in Lewistown where she had resided for the past 9 years.
Dian met and made many friends in Lewistown and always enjoyed her many lunches and visits to the Empire Café. When she was able, she very much enjoyed the dances and sing-alongs at the nursing home, as well as their weekly Bingo. Dian was always willing to help any of the residents with various projects. One of her favorite pastimes was clipping coupons for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jean Nunn. Dian is survived by one brother, Franke Wallila and his wife Pat, of Roberts; one sister, Connie Eaton and her husband Lee, of Lindsay, Mont.; one brother-in-law, Glenn Nunn and his wife JoAnn of Terry; four nephews, three nieces and six grandnephews and five grandnieces.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29 at the Roberts United Methodist Church. Visitation was 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge. Interment was in the Roberts Cemetery
