Patricia Ann McAvoy Whitman Cote, age 75, passed away into the loving arms of Our Lord on July 10, 2013 at the Suncoast Hospice Home in Palm Harbor, Fla., with her family by her side. Patricia was born on March 11, 1938 in Philadelphia, Penn., to Florence Elizabeth Mason McAvoy Dodelin and John Luther Ringwald McAvoy.
As a teenager Patricia moved with her Mother and Grandparents across the Delaware River to Collingswood, N.J. where she later graduated in 1957 from Collingswood High School.
Patricia was a professional ballet dancer and a professional artist. Something she enjoyed very much in life was dancing and painting. She married her high school sweetheart Richard S. Whitman in 1958. They resided together in Haddonfield, N.J. with their three children, Robert Alan Whitman, Daniel Bryan Whitman, and Janene Florence Whitman McKenney, until 1979 when they decided to move their family to Clearwater, Fla. A dream come true for her was to be on the Florida coast in the warm sun and sandy beaches year round.
She was a Civil Servant for the US Government for the majority of her career retiring as a Flight Secretary for the Air Force Recruiting D-Flight offices in Florida. Later in years she was remarried to Daniel C. Cote and finished the remainder of her life in Palm Harbor, Fla., surrounded by her children and grandchildren till her passing.
Patricia will forever be remembered to always have a smile on her face and a giggle in her voice with a sweet joke to share with everyone. “Life is Good” and “Happiness Happens Here” were some of her favorite sayings.
She is survived by her first husband, Richard S. Whitman of Tampa, Fla.; her second husband, Daniel C. Cote of Palm Harbor, Fla.; her Children, Robert A. Whitman of Clearwater, Fla., Daniel B. Whitman of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Janene F. Whitman McKenney of Red Lodge; her Grandchildren, Danielle Paige McKenney of Red Lodge, attending University in Tampa, Fla., Travis William McKenney of Red Lodge, and J.M. Whitman.
No funeral services were held. A memorial will occur at a later date determined by her children. Arrangements were made through Abbey Affordable Cremation Services in Largo, Fla. Memorials can be made to Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Fla., or Special K Ranch in Columbus.
