Elmer Hansen passed away Dec. 10 2013 at his home in Joliet from a long illness. He was born in Torrington, Wyo. to Katie and Carl Hansen. He was 1 of 11 children.
While he was young he married Shirley and with that union they had three boys, Forest "Carl", E Dewayne (Pat) and Russell Hansen. They later divorced and he married Joyce Baker. They made a home in Joliet where they have lived since their union. Elmer held a variety of jobs throughout his life but the job he enjoyed the most was working with his son Carl raising cows, horses and farming. Even through his illness he would talk and worry about the cows and about them calving.
In his spare time, which he did not have much of; he would like to go fishing, hunting and going to the cafe for coffee time with the other local farmers and ranchers talking about everything from the weather to the livestock. He made an impression on everyone he met and he will be greatly missed by so many. Elmer is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Dewayne (Pat) and Russell, step children Doris (Dennis) Cosner and Russell (Tammy) Baker, 6 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two sisters Elsie Rose, Luella Jackson and very dear friends and caregivers Gary, Marla and Amber Frank and Josh and Amber McQuillan. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Carl, grandson Jordon Hansen and several of his brothers and sisters.
