The Carbon County Commissioners last week denied the appeal proposal of Mercury Towers and Tower Engineering Professionals, Inc. to build a self-supported monopole cell tower off Highway 78 near Luther/Roscoe. In the appeal Mercury Towers had suggested reducing the height by 15 feet to 145 feet with a foot width at the top and a four-foot base. The company also added a 5 foot lightening rod and were prepared to paint the pole “any color” in order to blend it in with the scenery. The Commissioners chose to uphold the Carbon County Planning Office decision. Commissioner John Prinkki told the company to contact the planning board and work on alternative ideas.
