Beartooth Ranger District working to improve Palisades Trail Fox Lane Gate

Thursday, June 28, 2018

Beartooth Ranger District is working with Carbon County, Beartooth Recreation Trails Association and local landowners to improve infrastructure at the Palisades Trailhead at Fox Lane to address livestock management and recreation use in the area.  A gate is being installed at the trailhead to prevent livestock from gaining access to the county right of way and wandering onto adjacent land.

“Recreation users accessing the Palisades trail from the Fox Lane trailhead will need to open and close a gate at the parking area to access the trail.  The gate is to keep livestock from getting through the trailhead onto Fox lane and becoming a traffic hazard.  The publics’ help and support is appreciated.” said Jeff Gildehaus, Recreation Manager.  For additional information, please contact the Beartooth Ranger District at (406) 446-2103 or visit them online at: or look for them on Facebook
