Brian Lars Stene joined his mom and grandpa in heaven on Friday, Aug. 27 of 2021. His sweet, kind soul, and contagious smile, will be deeply missed. Brian graduated from Joliet High School in 2000 and enlisted in the US Navy where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals. He served honorably for 4 years, completing two tours on the USS Constellation. He then set up home with his family in California, where he worked various jobs using skills he learned from growing up on the family ranch. Though he settled far away, his deep love for the Pryor Mountains, and arrowhead hunting, endured.Brian is survived by his two sons, Zachary and Zane, who were the joys of his life. In visits with his Montana family, he was constantly sharing his pride in the two great men they are becoming. He is also survived by wife Tonya, grandmother Georgene Harwood, father Joseph (Linda) Stene, brother Jason (Terra) Stene, nephew Auston, niece Sophia, aunt Ranae (Doug) Parker, cousins Coram and Canon, Uncle George (Casey) Harwood, cousins Tyler, Jacob and Kaitlynn Harwood, and aunt Theresa Stene, cousins Traci Mankin and Christopher Stene. He is preceded in death by mother Paula Stene, grandfather Lou Harwood and uncle Robert Stene. A Celebration of Life will be held on Oct. 2 at 4 p.m., 11 Cool Water Lane. All friends and family are invited to share in our celebration of Brian’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the Z&Z Bright Future fund for Zachary and Zane.
