Bridger teams ready themselves for Districts

Bridger boys’ preparation for Districts went according to plan last week as they defeated Plenty Coups 94-80 and Roberts 69-43. The Scouts face Absarokee in their opening game, Wednesday at 4 p.m., a team they have defeated twice this season. As for the Lady Scouts they were narrowly beaten by Plenty Coups 43-35 but came back strongly against Roberts with a 64-26 victory. The Lady Scouts will play Park City at Districts, 4 p.m. Thursday. Like the boys, the Lady Scouts have defeated the Panthers twice this season. In the run up games, Bridger boys’ win over Plenty Coup started off with a high scoring first quarter with Bridger out in front 30-20. The frenetic pace slowed down in the 2nd and the 3rd with the scores at 18-16 and 16-16. As they entered the final phase, the Bridger boys were leading 65-52. The 4th quarter ended as furiously as the game started with Bridger again scoring 30 points to Plenty Coups 28. Colby Zentner led in team points with 28 with Kolton Pospisil on 27. Carson Roberts scored 17 with Colter Zentner on 9 and Russell Zentner on 8. The boys continued their run of form with an easier win over Roberts although the Rockets fought back to take the 2nd 15-14 after losing the 1st 25-9. Bridger regained their pace in the 2nd half. Pospisil made 18 points, with Roberts on 16, Colter Zentner on 9 and Colby Zentner on 8. Kaleb Buessing added 6 to his weekend total of 11. For Roberts Ryan DeVries scored 15 points with Allexander Kosel on 10 and Riley Gebhardt on 7. The girls’ narrow defeat to Plenty Coups witnessed a tough battle that saw the game ebb away from the Lady Scouts towards the end of the first half. Trailing by no more than 3-5 points, the final quarter saw them succumb by only 3 points but it was enough to send them home empty handed. Jessica Adkins scored 17 points with Emily Adkins on 6 and Kate Aisenbrey on 5. Things improved for Bridger against Roberts as the girls took a 31-12 lead at the half and then killed the contest off with a 24-8 3rd quarter. Jessica Adkins added 25 points to her weekend total, with Desiree Jones on 14, Jenna Kallevig on 9 and Emily Adkins on

7. For Roberts Avery Walker netted 16 points, with McKenzie Pitts on 7.
