Canceled game doesn’t stop Kallevig

Thursday, October 11, 2018

The Scouts’ game with Northern Cheyenne was cancelled so the team picked up a nonconference game with Valier and hit the road for the lengthy trek up north. “The long ride didn’t effect our energy much,” said Coach Mike Mathis, as the Scouts lit the scoreboard for 90 points to Valier’s 51.

“We could have played better on defense however everything was working in our spread package on offense including a monster performance for the ages from Jake Kallevig as he simply could not be stopped all night recording 17 receptions for an amazing 452 yards with seven touchdowns,” said Mathis.

"Our quarterbacks threw him some fine passes and when they didn’t Jake went and made a great play on balls that normally go incomplete,” he said.

Kallevig also had 11 rushes for another 60 yards and a touchdown run and passed for 22 yards on three completions with one going for a score.

“He finished with 534 yards of total offense and was responsible for nine scores to end the incredible evening. Probably a couple broken records but we’ll have to check the books.”

Other stats from this game:

Jake Mitzel was 9-11 passing for 246 yards and five touchdown passes with one rushing touchdown and 11 tackles; Chance Goltz was 12-28 passing for 233 yards and three touchdown passes; Eric White had 19 tackles one sack and caught a touchdown pass; Rod Zentner had nine tackles with one interception and one rushing touchdown; Ryan Sweet had nine tackles and rushed for a touchdown and Jake Kallevig also had 14 tackles and one interception.

Regardless it gave the fans an outstanding sight to behold said Mathis.

“I was pleased with all the Scout’s great play and the diligent effort we gave all night,” he said.
