Four families in October and ten in November were welcomed to Red Lodge by Linda Fisher of the Red Lodge Newcomer Service. Four chose not to be included in this article. Each one received a welcome packet, compliments of some of the local business community.  Please welcome these new families:

*Robin Adams recently moved to Red Lodge from northern California.  She went to University of California-San Diego and studied science, psychology, design and  philosophy.  She took a year off after graduating and did volunteer work and back packing. She grew up skiing in the mountains and is very excited to be here to do some Montana skiing.   Robin works for Ameri Corp on a NCAP program working with low income and energy savings. Robin enjoys hiking, rafting, kayaking, snow shoeing and downhill skiing.  She would like to learn how to play the guitar someday too.

•Angela and Joe Echo-Hawk and Linda and Bob Scott jointly purchased a second home here in Red Lodge.  They have been coming to Red Lodge for years in their spare time and decided to have a permanent place to come play.  Angela owns Art and Play in Billings and Joe is a pilot with Skywest and also owns Kwee-Jack Fish Company which sells sustainably harvested wild Alaskan sockeye salmon.  Their children are Sam who is three and Eli who is five.  They also have an English shepherd called Rya. Linda owns Nearly New in Billings and Bob is an office manager for J & H Office Equipment, based in Bozeman. Linda and Bob enjoy playing with their two grandchildren.  All love the outdoors, hiking and cross-country skiing, plus Joe and Bob enjoy hunting in the area.

•Colleen Harrington recently moved here from Denver.  She has also lived in the San Francisco area and in Boston.  She remembers going to Yellowstone National Park when she was quite young, and since has always wanted to travel and live in Montana.  She is a retired registered nurse and has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Rims.  Colleen loves textiles and enjoys sewing and quilting.  She also likes to snowshoe and cross-country ski and would like to learn how to skate again and try some fly fishing.

•Sandra Moe and Charlie Brummer moved to Red Lodge from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Sandra was recently hired as the Registered Dietician at Beartooth Hospital and Charlie is the Food and Beverage Manager at The Mountain, and a server at The Pollard.  They have a four-year old son, Hank, and a two-year old daughter, Pearl. Their family enjoys hiking, sledding, board games and puzzles.  They would like to try downhill skiing and snowshoeing this winter.

•Pete Scherzer and Irene Saito recently moved to Red Lodge from Manoa, Hawaii where Pete was a lecturer in the ceramics department at the University of Hawaii.  They have a son Rowan, and a dog Willow.  Pete has been hired as the Facilities Coordinator at the Red Lodge Clay Center.  They like to go hiking, camping and hope to try cross-country skiing and snow shoeing this winter.

There are five new resident artists at the Red Lodge Clay Center:

*Derek Au and his wife Nuokan Huang moved here from New York where he was a ceramic artist in the Alfred University Ceramics Department. Nuokan is working as a breakfast waiter at The Pollard Hotel and she is learning how to ride horses at Aspen Ridge Ranch.

*Jon Green moved here from Missoula where he received his BFA and also worked at a bakery, Stone Fabrication construction and as a studio assistant. Jon likes to ski, hunt, fish, hike, run and sew.

*Soojin Choi moved here from Minneapolis, Minnesota where she did a residency at the Northern Clay Center. She received her BFA at Virginia Commonwealth University and her MFA in ceramics at Alfred University in New York. She loves to watch movies and is looking forward to ice skating this winter.

*Jared Peterson moved here from Sonoma, California.   He received his BA in English and Ceramics and his BFA from West Virginia University.  He likes being outside to fish, hike, writing poetry, dance, elk hunt, and enjoys music.

*Stephanie Wilhelm moved here from Tennessee where she was the Artist-in-Residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. She received her BFA from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania and her MFA from the University of Florida.  She likes to hike, travel, knit, dog walks and volunteering at dog shelters.  She is hoping to try skiing this winter.
