City pass Water/ Sewer Rate Resolution

After several months of discussion the Red Lodge City Council approved Resolution 3450 Water/Sewer Rates with only Councilman Andrew Dimich voting against it. Prior to the vote Council women Corey Thompson explained that the resolution was an attempt to equalize payment for the water sewer infrastructure throughout the City and beyond and introduce a fair and consistent utility billing.
“The city needs a sustainable budget to fund such projects. We have an ancient system that needs constant updating, and project costs go up,” said Thompson.
Thompson also said that this would benefit the Fire Department, “providing easier access to city water no matter where we are.”
Seasonal occupants on developed lots who turn their water off will pay an infrastructure rate for the water and sewer lines that go passed their homes. This will also apply for undeveloped lots.
All vacant lots located outside the city limits and located within those applicable portions of Remington Ranch, Beartooth Business Park, and the Woodlands, shall be charged a pro-rata fair share of the infrastructure costs association with the provision of sewer service only “to help city residents pay for infrastructure costs,” said Thompson.
Thompson added this is “not directed to city residents.”
“Many towns across the country are doing this including Bridger,” said Thompson.
The resolution is effective Jan. 1, 2018.
