The recent mail-out Municipal Elections produced a healthy voter response with 62 percent of the public voting in the Fromberg election and 54 per cent voting in Red Lodge election.
“I was real pleased with the way things went,” said Macque Bohleen, Carbon County Election Administrator. “It was very smooth.”
Just recently Secretary of State Linda McCulloch spoke of scraping polling places in favor of mail-out ballots to improve election participation and save counties money.
The results, still unofficial, declared William Larson Red Lodge mayor with 545 votes to 250 over incumbent Mike Schoenike. In Fromberg Shirley Miller defeated write-in candidate Leza Vargas 90-46 to become mayor.
In other races in Red Lodge Dave Westwood won Ward 1 with 221 votes; Diane Dimich won Ward 2 over William Bernard 126-111 and Glory Mahan maintained her Ward 3 seat defeating Bruce Owen 144-88.
In Fromberg Nathan “Sticka” Caton received 108 votes with Tim Nottingham getting 75 to fill the two council seats. Also running were Lula Price, 53 votes, and Daisy Hoffman 34 votes.
