Elizabeth Ann Adams Westhaeffer, age 69, of Bearcreek, passed away on June 30, 2019. Liz was born on Jan. 7, 1950 to James and Margaret Dow Adams in Martinsville, Indiana.

Liz lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, until 1962 when her family moved to Bearcreek, Montana. Liz attended and graduated from Belfry High School in 1969. In December 1969, she accepted a position with the FBI and moved to Washington D.C. where she resided until 1996.

Liz married Ghaleb Aburish in 1970 and had two children, Jennifer Kay and Ibrahim Aburish.  Liz and Ghaleb divorced in 1984. Liz met and married Tom Westhaeffer in Arlington, Virginia on Sept. 5, 1987. Liz enjoyed fishing and camping and whenever possible she and Tom would hook the boat up to the RV and head to their favorite camping spots.

Liz’s passion were her grandchildren, Austin, Aaliyah, Malayna, Ahmed and Deyana. She loved being a grandmother and was fortunate enough to see Austin, Aaliyah and Malayna daily and Ahmed and Deyana whenever she could. She would always try and organize family vacations as she was so family oriented.

Liz worked 19 ½ years at the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office where all the officers were “her boys” and no matter what the age difference was between them, they had a good time.

Liz is survived by her children Jennifer (Brian) Jessen of Bearcreek and Ibrahim (Suhair) Aburish of Fort Washington, Maryland. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren who she absolutely loved and adored. Liz was from a large family and is survived by siblings: Sue Arens of Fayetteville Arkansas, Lisa (Jon) Axline of Helena, Montana, Don (Donna) Adams of Powell, Wyoming, Robert (Melissa) Adams of Wichita Kansas, John (Karen) Adams of Santee, California, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Max and Maya. Liz was preceded in death by her husband Tom, both her parents, a brother, James Stewart and two sisters, Betsy Adams and Sandy Jones.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 5 at 11 a.m. at the Red Lodge Alliance Chapel. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service.  Grave site services will be held at 2 p.m. at Belfry Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Beartooth Humane Alliance.
