Eye Protection

The Red Lodge Lions Club recently screened all K-8, a total of 313 Red Lodge school children using the Plus Optix screener. The Plus Optix is not biased by interpretation of the person performing the screening. This screener is designed to detect nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.  It also scans for anisometropia, a condition in which the refractive power of one eye differs from that of the other. The screener also detects anisocoria where it compares the pupil sizes of both eyes. Vision problems affect 1 in 4 school age children and 80 percent of what a child learns in their first twelve years is visually acquired. Red Lodge Lions feels strongly about the vision of youth, and it is through our raffle sales, and fun run donations that we can offer services such as these to our community.  The Lions also help individuals with visual problems financially, if needed.
