Finnish Delight

The cakes, the bread and cookies went quickly at the Ladies of Kaleva Labor Day Bake Sale, at Bone Daddy’s parking lot, Red Lodge. On offer were irresistible homemade Finnish round-loaf, sweet cardamom bread (pulla), desserts and Finn Toast from Astoria, Oregon. Attending the event was (bottom) Luella Wallila, 3rd grader from Roberts School, whose family has origins in Finland. Wallila said she can count to 7 in Finnish but was too shy to give a demonstration. The bake sale will fund educational and cultural projects.
