A fire took out a Red Lodge institution last Saturday; the AY Supply located north of the City.

No one was in the building at the time and no one hurt in the blaze.

Attending the scene were crews from Red Lodge Fire, Roberts Fire, Red Lodge EMS and the Red Lodge Police Department. Around 20 emergency personnel were at the scene.

The 2,400 sq ft. warehouse was fully engulfed when first responders arrived at approximately 8 p.m.

Highway 212 was closed temporarily to ensure water supply to the fire engines. The main building and its contents were a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

AY Supply housed and sold automotive supplies including some potentially explosive gases and liquids which were of special concern to firefighters. Due to the structure of the building and the nature of the contents, the area may continue to smoke until full clean-up of the area is possible. The location is being monitored by the property owner and first responders will continue to assist with mitigation as needed.

Red Lodge Fire Rescue and Roberts Fire are staffed primarily with volunteer responders who train year-round to respond to calls like this structure fire.
