First Games of the season: Red Lodge Youth Soccer

Even though there is still snow on the ground, spring soccer is in full swing.  Red Lodge is fielding two Academy/Rec teams and two competitive teams this year.

The U10 Academy/Rec team has 13 players and is coached by Lauren Brophy and Brent Moore. This youngest team will spend the season working on honing its skills and having fun.  The U12 Academy/Rec team has 18 players and is coached by Sherri Dunlap, Erin Oley and Gretchen Shuck.  This team will be playing games against other academy teams throughout the season.  The U14 competitive team has 17 players and is coached by Kit Stewart and Justin Moore, while the U18 team has 20 players and is being coached by Anne Kraus and Jon Milligan.

The U12 team played two games in Billings this past weekend, despite not having practiced at all as a team due to snow.  They played their hearts out, with a final score against the Billings YSA team of 3-5, and a final score against Billings United of 2-12.

The U18 team tied Livingston 2-2 on Saturday morning, with Robert Butler and Dominic DeSarro scoring goals for Red Lodge.  In the afternoon, Red Lodge beat Big Timber 4-1, with goals by AJ Getz, Eli Lauver, Robert Butler and Dominic DeSarro.  Players celebrated their win quickly, then many hustled back to Red Lodge to attend prom.

At press time no information was available about the U14 games.

The U14 plays in Big Timber next weekend, while the U18 team will be in Laurel; the U12 team has a bye.  These three teams will be playing games here in Red Lodge on June 2nd, so mark your calendars.
