The ceremony may have been two days early but the respect and esteem was just as strong and heartfelt from the students of Fromberg schools as they performed a salute to Veteran’s Day, Nov. 9.

Led by Mr. Webster, music director, and Mr. Bratsky, history teacher, the students from kindergarten to seniors put on a memorable show that kicked off with the elementary choir singing a perfect rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner.’

A skit followed about what a Veteran is before moving onto further music, this time from the 4th and 5th grade choir singing ‘My Country ‘Tis of Thee’, and then the kindergartners and the 1st graders with ‘You’re A Grand Old Flag.’

Veteran Bill Coty then carried out a flag folding ceremony with 4th grader Hunter. He has been teaching about the proper way to fold flags “for 26 years to 5th and 6th graders and now 4th graders,” he said.

The 6th-7th grader band then performed ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’ which was followed by the 7th-12th grade band with  ‘From Sea to Shining Sea.’

Ex U.S. Marine Ralph Dawson then spoke about his experiences serving his country as a Marine. He told the audience he that at the age of 4 or 5 he could sing the Marine Corp Hymn. He served from 1974—96 in all four Marine Divisions.

The high school choir finished off the morning’s performance with ‘Thank You, Soldiers’ and ‘Music Change The World.’

Afterwards, a special lunch was put on at the high school and was attended by Veterans and students.
