Gordon Duane Parker

On Jan. 26, 2019 a much-beloved man left God’s Country in Montana for God’s Home in heaven. Gordon Duane Parker was born Sept. 25, 1951 in Philipsburg, Montana, to Reuben Smith and LaRaine Glenn Parker.  

He grew up in the Drummond, Montana area and graduated from Drummond High School where he participated in football, basketball, the school play, and served on the Student Council.  

He attended Ricks College and Montana State University-Bozeman, graduating with a BS in Zoology.  

He was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in Arizona.  

He married Ann Herem from Absarokee, Montana, and they lived and reared a family in Bozeman, Montana, Sheridan, Wyoming, and Gillette, Wyoming, before moving to the Herem family ranch in Absarokee in 1987.  He served on the Absarokee School Board.  

He ranched and had a concrete construction business until his death.  

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents.  

He is survived by his wife Ann; sons Brad (Ngaio), Nathan (Lindsey), and Ryan (Sara); daughters Melissa (Brandon), Autumn (Serge), and Claire (David); 24 grandchildren; brothers Alex (Connie), Bruce (Jo), and John (Donna); sisters LaReita, Kathy (Francis), Mildred (Dean), and Evelyn (Myron); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A family and friends viewing will be held at the Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel, 201 N Broadway, Red Lodge, Montana, on Friday, Feb.1, 2019 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Red Lodge Ward Chapel, 8 West Fork Road, Red Lodge, on Saturday, Feb.2, 2019 with a viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m. and services beginning at 11 a.m. Gordon will be buried in the Rosebud Cemetery outside of Absarokee.
