April Greer of Red Lodge received five years of probation, that includes a year of house arrest, at a hearing last Thursday before U.S. District Court Judge Susan Watters.

Greer was sentenced for embezzling $1.2 million from Wildfire Defense Systems of Red Lodge.

According to charging documents Greer, at one time director of human resources and controller for the company, made unauthorized transfers of money from the company's account into her personal checking account and then altered bank statements to conceal the missing money.

Greer is ordered to pay the amount back in restitution, $718,000 to Wildfire Defense Systems and $505,000 to Travelers Casualty and Surety Co.

Wildfire Defense Systems did not comment on the verdict.
