Hay Bank helps At-Risk Horses

Beartooth Humane Alliance (BHA) reminds Carbon County residents who are experiencing a financial hardship of its program designed to assist private horse owners with hay for their horses (and other equines). The Beartooth Humane Alliance Hay Bank provides hay for 30 days at absolutely no cost to qualified recipients.

A qualifying financial hardship or crisis includes, but is not limited to, job loss, medical bills or other hardships. Applicants need to not only have a genuine financial need for assistance, but they also need to devise a well thought out plan for how they will get back on their feet and manage their horse care after the 30 days of Hay Bank assistance has ended.

For further information, restrictions and to obtain a copy of the Hay Bank Application please visit www.beartoothhumane.org or call

(406) 446-3500.

BHA reminds all citizens to remain vigilant and watchful for animals without food or water especially in the upcoming harsh winter months. Unlike victims of crime or abuse, animals cannot call for help but are reliant on the compassion and humanity of our citizens to call local law enforcement or to call BHA if you suspect starvation or other forms of neglect or cruelty. Reports of animal neglect or cruelty may be made anonymously if desired.

Beartooth Humane Alliance is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that assists the people and animals of Carbon County, Montana, by helping companion animals in need, promoting responsible animal care through education, providing solutions to dog and cat overpopulation, and serving as an animal welfare resource.  For further information visit
