Eight regions, thousands of members, only the top two or three in each event progress to the national competition. This may sound like a rigorous professional competition for adult business leaders, but these business leaders are high school students. Every year, thousands of young professionals around our nation compete in Business Professionals of America’s regional, state and national competitions. Business Professionals of America, or BPA, is the nation’s leading Career and Technical Student Organization. BPA’s members span all races, religions, backgrounds, and abilities, but all of the student professionals have a common goal: bettering their own and our country’s future by improving their business and leadership skills.

This year, our town’s high school is home to nine national qualifiers. In mid-April, these students will attend BPA’s National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California to compete against others from across the country. Led by advisor Theresa Reimer, these nine students have shown outstanding dedication to their events and gained exemplary skills in the process. Zoe Avent, Camron Avent, Chloe Hill, Sophie Hiltner, Malyn McJunkin, Jasper Poore, Alexa Reimer, Jacob Stockwell and Shane Vomund not only led the way through the regional and state competitions, but have sparked a light in their community with their dedication and accomplishments.

“Our students are nine of the top BPA participants in the nation who will be traveling to Anaheim this May to compete for the title of National Champion. It’s highly uncommon for so many students from smaller schools like ours to make it to the national competition,” says chapter advisor, Theresa Reimer. “Red Lodge has had the unique distinction of having two National Champions in the past three years. Our chapter continues to prove that our students - with access to great technology - go above and beyond with their work, dedication and technical skills.”

Red Lodge High School’s BPA members are currently working their hardest to raise funds to send the group of nine and their advisors to the competition. All of our national qualifiers, and their families, must raise the $1,575 it will cost each student to attend. The group is requesting donations from businesses and individuals. To make an investment in these young people, indeed in the future, please consider a donation!. Donations can be sent to the BPA Chapter at Red Lodge High School, PO Box 1090, Red Lodge, Montana 59068. If you have any questions about funding our town’s youth, you can call the school at (406) 446-1903.
