Help when you need it

Sometimes situations out of our control, like the current partial government shutdown, temporarily cause or increase financial uncertainties. The effects of these situations put a strain on the young families, elderly neighbors, and hard-working employees of our community. The Navigator Program may be able to assist.

The Navigator Program is a group of volunteers trained to guide people to resources they need and might not be aware of. Although Navigators are not experts like the Office of Public Assistance, they can assist with completing resource applications such as Medicaid, TANF, SNAP, HMK, Best Beginnings, LIEAP, WIC and Section 8 Housing.

Our community has access to several other valuable programs. Senior Ark is a program which provides funding for people age 65 and over, Salvation Army helps fund situational needs like fuel, utilities and partial rent, and the Early Childhood Fund helps young families with childcare and preschool costs. Navigators also steer individuals to food support programs such as BareTooth Cupboards, It’s in the Bag! which is a weekend meal program for Red Lodge students in grades K-8 or Harvest Hope, the Red Lodge High School food pantry.

Please call or stop in the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation to learn more about these programs. Or consider becoming a Navigator yourself! Please contact Therese Picasso-Edwards, (406) 446-2820 or email To learn about more community services in our county go to
