Joliet boys take 2nd at Districts

Joliet boys narrowly lost to the Roundup Panthers 42-38 in overtime in the 4B championship game in Huntley last weekend.

The J-Hawks fought bravely against a stern Panther defense even leading at the half 17-15 but allowed Roundup to come back and lead going into the final quarter. The last 8 minutes didn’t produce the fireworks everyone was expecting as the two teams closed up shop, almost too nervous to strike gold. At the buzzer the game was tied up at 35 all.

During the extra quarter the Panthers opened up the J-Hawks to secure the title.

Rylan Olson  led Joliet with 17 points.

Joliet had secured their place defeating Shepherd 61-55 in the semi finals. Shepherd had advanced when they beat Red Lodge 46-38.

The biggest surprise of the tournament came from the Red Lodge boys who achieved their first win of the season defeating a stunned Columbus team 48-40. It allowed the Rams a shot at 3rd place but they lost out to Shepherd once more 55-40.
