Julie was born in Red Lodge, Montana, Jan. 12, 1960 and went to heaven June 18, 2018 to be with her mother Elizabeth (Betty) and father Einar Jakkola, brothers, several aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Julie attended Roberts Montana schools and in 1976, met the love of her life, Robert E. Phillips. They were married in Red Lodge in 1977. Julie worked many different jobs in her life until the time she became ill with Scleroderma. Julie had many interests but the things that brought her the most joy was spending time with family and friends. She was blessed with a granddaughter that meant the world to her. She was often heard saying that one of the best things in life is being a grandmother. Julie also enjoyed going camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking, sewing, stitching and crafting. She had an enormous love for nature and all animals.

Julie is survived by her husband Robert E. Phillips, one daughter Sarah Dixon (Allan), granddaughter Ryder Dixon, all of Elko, Nevada. One brother William (Debbie) Jakkola of Spokane, Washington, one sister Marge McCarty of Red Lodge, Montana, and several nieces and nephews.

It is Julie’s wishes that any memorials be made to the Scleroderma Foundation or local Animal Shelter. She also requests that everyone become an organ donor and give everyone a second chance in life.

A celebration of life will be held on July 21, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Red Lodge Alliance Chapel (community room) 905 S. Broadway Red Lodge, Montana 59068. Refreshments will be served following the memorial.
