The Finnish Kaleva Park board recently received $5,000 grant from the Finlandia Foundation National that will go towards the lodge that needs a new roof.
The total cost to replace the roof is $20,000.
The Finnish Kaleva Park is located between Roberts and Red Lodge and is a sought-after location for local class reunions, memorials and family gatherings in addition to serving as the touchstone for Finnish people throughout the area.
The aim of this extensive project is to preserve the group’s ability to host Kaleva, family and community events, as well as to house treasured collectibles from early Finnish settlers during the mining era, plus books and art from Finland.
The board has also donations from the Ladies of Kaleva Mielikin Tupa #1, the Roberts Community Foundation, the estates of Rayno Kansala and Bob Moran and many individuals.
