Lady Rockets off to strong start

The Roberts team with their 2nd place award at the Broadview/Lavina Tournament.The team this year consists of Kimberly Bear, Emma DeVries, Skyler Hess, Kenzie Pitts, Cassie Blair, Kelia Castro, Grayce Payovich, MaKayla Pratt, Bentley Bertolino, Korbin Harvison, Jermaine Kuntz. Head coach Melissa Bertolino and assistance coach Theresa Kosel.

The Lady Rockets have got into their groove quickly at the start of the season. 

They took 2nd place at the Broadview/Lavina Tournament, Aug. 31 losing a tight game to Huntley JV (25-20, 16-25, 9-15). Undeterred they then went on to defeat both Melstone and Reed Point Rapelje later in the week. 

Roberts defeat Melstone 28-26, 25-13, 22-25,21-25, 15-5 with Kimberly Bear putting in a good all-round performance and Bentley Bertolino excelling at assisting. Emma DeVries also had a remarkable game, making 25 digs. 

Stats: 12 aces (Kimberly Bear 4), 28 assists 28 (Bentley Bertolino 26), 44 kills (Bear 17), 4 blocks (Bear 3) and 80 digs 80 (Emma DeVries 25)

Against Reed Point Rapejle, the Lady Rockets won 25-19, 25-12, 25-8.

Stats: 9 aces (Kelia Castro 4), 22 assists (Bertolino, no number), 30 kills (McKenzie Pitts 14), 3 blocks (Bear 2), 28 digs (Bear 8).

    Ross Orchards, located at 111 North Street in Fromberg, is proud to announce the opening of a farm stand this Fall. The orchard will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays noon - 5 p.m. starting Sept. 21 and closing Oct. 13. The orchard is working in conjunction with the Last Chance Pub and Cider Mill and Red Lodge Ales to offer fun, family-friendly events.   Every weekend apples, fresh apple cider pressed with apples from the orchard, apple pastries, local honey, food, hard cider, and beer will be available.  There will also be pumpkins and a variety of local produce for sale. Additionally, each weekend will have a different event. Sept. 21 - 22 – Cider and Salutations yoga 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Sept. 28 – A farm to table dinner at 5 p.m. catered by the Last Chance Pub’s chef Kevin McNourlin. The dinner will feature local foods paired with cider. Contact to reserve seats (limit 40) Oct. 5 - 6 - Kidz Dayz. Bounce house, pumpkin carving, face painting and tractor rides through the orchard. Oct. 12- Orchard run 5k. A family-friendly run/walk through Ross Orchards. Visit to sign up. Together we have pruned, picked apples, and made cider on a home brew level and now commercially.
