Serena Oyler, Bridger, attempts a basket against Absarokee.

Broadview and Absarokee felt the sting of the Lady Scouts of Bridger as they bulldozed their way through to the Championship game against Plenty Coups before narrowly getting stung themselves in an exhilaratingly close finale.

Bridger had destroyed Broadview 62-14 to start their campaign, taking the 1st quarter 22-3 and following up with a 19-8 2nd quarter. The 2nd half was hardly needed as Broadview offered nothing in terms of a fight back, mustering only 3 points all half to the Lady Scouts 21.

Emily Adkins took in 18 points as sister Jessica marched on with 14.

Next up it was Absarokee’s turn to face this whirlwind and at first they did fairly well to block the Lady Scouts advances taking the 1st quarter 10-7. Such is a false dawn sometimes and come half time Absarokee had been pulled back with a 15-4 score, with Bridger now leading overall 22-14.

This spurred on the Lady Scouts who took the final two quarters to find themselves in the final against Plenty Coups who had defeated Roberts 57-23 to reach there.

J. Adkins scored 23 against Absarokee with sister Emily following on 12 this time.

The Championship game was a tight affair with neither team given up and inch and so it showed in the scoreline of 28-23 to Plenty Coups.

J. Adkins cemented in 10 points bringing her tally for the tournament to 47.  Desiree Jones-Scott made 8 points.

Bridger played Melstone in their opening game at Southern C Divisional Feb. 20 at Laurel High School. The score will be posted at
